Dior by Birkenstock

In the realm of high fashion, Birkenstock might not be the immediate footwear brand that comes to mind – not the second, third, or even fourth choice. Renowned for functionality and comfort, Birkenstock embarked on an unexpected journey of collaboration with none other than Dior.

This unconventional pairing led to a reinterpretation of two iconic Birkenstock designs: the Tokio Mules, introduced in 1987, and the Milano sandals, originating in the mid-1960s. The collaboration served as a sweet and subtle homage to Monsieur Dior's deep-rooted passion for horticulture, a pastime he acquired from his mother during his youth, as noted by Wallpaper. The resulting collection, aptly named Dior by Birkenstock, seamlessly merges functionality with a touch of elegance.

Distinguished by Dior's signature grey felt and suede, the designs incorporate buckles reminiscent of the accents found on the famed Dior Saddle Bag. The collaboration made its debut on the runway during the autumn/winter 2022 Dior shows, introducing "ugly-cool" designs that were effortlessly paired with socks and luxurious Dior tracksuit pants. The collection not only exudes sumptuous attire but also cleverly ticks the comfort boxes, embodying the perfect blend of unexpected partnership, style, and comfort.
